Several units from the Greenwich Police Department were dispatched to the Western Junior Middle School at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, when multiple alarms were activated inside the building.

Upon arrival, officers spotted a man - later identified as Greenwich resident Cristian Cerza - exiting from a southern exterior door, police said. The officers were able to stop Cerza, and it was determined that he was unauthorized to be at the school.

Investigators did not disclose why Cerza was in the building without permission.

Cerza was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal trespassing. Following his arraignment, he was released and issued a ticket to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Thursday, July 11.
